Air filters

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I had my S4 Avant on the rollers last
week. The car has been modified to (allegedly) 300bhp.  The rolling road
figures showed 225bhp. The car is fitted with an aftermarket air-filter
(JP?) in the factory airbox. Despite the car being rigorously serviced
every 6 months, the filter fitted was totally clogged (possibly due to
the main agents seeing the filter sticker on the filter box and
therefore ignoring it!). The filter has even gone concave where it was
trying to get air in!  I replaced the filter with a fresh factory paper
element and the bhp figures went up to 254! Cheap upgrade! I will get
another decent element and remeasure.

P.S Next time it goes on the rollers, I'll have to remember to turn the
a/c off! :-)
