Personally, I'm amazed at how many people claim to be "car enthusiasts" but
don't know the first thing about cars! That said, when I was a part of the
audio industry, I found the same was also true of many audiophiles and I've
since discovered it's true of oenophiles as well ... in fact, it's probably
true of every hobby. On the one hand, you've got the obsessive/compulsives
like me, who must learn everything there is to know about whatever they are
interested in -- I used to buy new audio equipment and take it apart before
I ever listened to it -- and on the other, you have those who couldn't care
less about all the technical details (my father quickly comes to mind!) and
simply enjoy the results...

If you want something done right, do it yourself. I've never had any luck
with professional alignments on any of my cars so I do them myself at home
... it obviously takes a bit longer but it's cheaper and the results are a
lot better than those some bored $7/hr. alignment technician is willing or
able to achieve.
