BBS rim cosmetics

One of the few cosmetics quibbles that I have with the '91 200tq  I'll be
picking up next week is that several of the BBS wheels have moderate
patches of curbside-abrasions (no dents) on the edges of the rim. Can a
good wheel shop put these wheels on lathe and touch up the edges to skim
off the rough areas? Is there an unavoidable safety issue here, or is this
fairly a routine, common practice?
