Re: ANS & future of the list

I would heartily disagree ... if you look carefully, you'll see the Audicar
site serves a new purpose and one that has the potential to stifle the free
dissemination of differing points of view. This is the opposite of what we
have come to expect from the q-list and I think the quality of content will
ultimately suffer accordingly if it were to affiliate with Audicar.
That said, I should also add the q-list, IMHO, isn't what it used to be ...
after years of listening to FM radio, with its better s/n ratio and greater
dynamic range, it becomes difficult tolerate AM radio, with all of its many
shortcomings. The same is also true of the q-list and many of those who've
been around a few years (I'm going on four myself) will agree. In general,
I have very little to do with newsgroups and suspect I'd eventually fall by
the wayside if the q-list were to relocate to alt.audis.gossip or some such
... one of the reasons the q-list works as well as it does is the stability
of its contributors. IMHO, the reason much of information that's available
in this forum is valuable is because of the credibility of the sources from
which it emanates. When Scott (QSHIP) Justusson talks about turbos or Dave
Lawson discusses intercoolers, for instance, I pay attention. But when the
Ross E.'s of the world starting spouting off about this or that, I normally
ignore them until they establish their credibility ... it's not always fair,
I know, but that's life.
> THat;s what we really need - attention from AoA!
I'm not so sure ... if AoA were to police this list very closely, some of us
could find ourselves in trouble. Not a lot, perhaps, but still...
