Re: Crocadiles

For those of you have not been following closely (I haven't!)
I bought a Mazda 323 GTX from John nelson in Reno. Mark is
John's son and a frequent contributor to the list. Mark is now
my co-driver, transporter, and driving coach (did I miss anything?.
I was amused in reading the Factory sales brochure. It quoted
motor trend, saying "a quattro at less than half the price".
So that is where the silly sounding quote came from. But there is
some truth to it. After cooking the motor out of the ting after racing
only one stage at Goremena Ridge rally in california (last month)
I found a good used japanese motor WITH the turbo for $450 plus
core and shipping. Try to equal THAT with an Audi. Other parts have
been similarly cheap. New Rods = $100. New Competition Springs = $30.
New Block = $100. But with Rallying, it isn't whether you can replace
things, it's how fast you can do it out in the tullies. SO in an effort
to maintain complete spares, I am buying a SECOND GTX to take to races
for when I break something. The winners are Goreman scavenged a A-arm
off a car at the Hotel to go on and win the rally, so it does work.
Rumor has it John has used the same tactic on unknowing porsche owners
in the past at midwestern race tracks. He put the bit back after! :-)

So with the two more 4kQ's, added to the 84GT and the 82 Urq, and TWO
gtx's, I ame up to my arm pits in crocadiles! Anybody what to buy a
daily driver 84 coupe GT?
