Roadside help! Aux relay panel/fan relay location.
Ref: Your replies of Wed, 17 Sep 1997
Dan, Mike, Dave H., Arryn, Dave C., Don, Chris, and Everybody --Thanks!
Q-list comes through again. Without it, I couldn't afford my cars (at
least beyond the hobby stage, or so many of them).
Referral to a competant mechanic, improvisation hints, a PHOTO!, details
on the panel removal and hints in case of a problem, advice on likely
marital pitfalls --what a group. And it's still raining in Indiana,
but that is the only bad news right now.
OUTCOME: as she was attempting access to the aux relay panel, the fan
shut down. I theorize that either the thermoswitch decided to work
(After all, it IS fairly new, 1yr, and it was a German precision unit),
it was one of the relays and it got jiggled, or some portion of the
wiring stressed out and opened. Last I heard she was north of Columbus
and rolling fast. I hope the fan motor avoided a sieze, and will
recommend a disconnect if she calls again. She vowed not to shut the
car off until reaching our driveway, at which point I can undertake the
necessary diagnostic and repair activities.
THANKS AGAIN FOR BEING THERE! --Gary ('86's:5ks&5ktq+'87CGT)
