Turbo after run relay fix
Hi all,
Just fixed my old turbo after run relay last night. Since I just got my
new one from Greg at GPR, I wanted to keep the old one for a spare, so I
popped the plastic can with a pair of jeweler screwdrivers and found that
the output transistor that drives the aux. water pump had fried. Replaced
it with a commonly available MJE-200 transistor, soldered it back in and it
worked just great! Gotta watch which way to install the transistor as I
put it backwards the first time. Taking it back out destroyed some traces
which I repaired with some bus wire. BTW the easy way to test if the aux
pump is running is to pull the #8 relay (1st stage rad fan relay). You can
hear the coolant pumping through the hoses quite easily.
