I 'inherited' this problem when I bought my Ur-q. It had had a new pressure
sensor and a new control until and a VAG invoice for several hours work trying
to trace the fault that mentioned that the oil pressure was ok.
The light would also come on at @3800rpm and then go out if I backed off.
I followed the Audi instructions for testing the system and found no problem,
until I had a REAL close look at where the control unit plugs in. One of the
contacts was loose, so I carefully bent it so that it fitted more tightly -
result - no light for the last 4 months. I have been told that the control
units can work loose if they are not pushed fully home when fitted.
BTW, I spoke to a WR owner at Chatsworth this afternoon who is suffering from
a hyper-active oil pressure light too, so it must be pretty common.
