Engine light

I've been having a problem w/ my 4000S for a while now.  Once in a while,
the engine light will come on while driving, and all of a sudden there is
a loss of power.  The doesn't shut off or anything, it just feels like it
is not getting enough air.  I had the oxygen sensor replaced, but it still
happens.  Anyone else experience a similar problem or know what the
problem might be?  This is the 1986 4cyl. engine.  Thanks!
