how much boost can the comp handle?

I have an 84 5ksT. I shimmed the wastegate spring, added water spray
across the icooler, low restriction exhaust, and ram air (the most
fuctional design I've seen...stole the idea from the Grand National
guys)I'm up to 1.7 bar of boost right now (cold, on the highway). I'll
probably get up to 1.8 when winter hits full on. I've been checking the
plugs and the o2 sensor periodically and they have not been showing a lean
condition as most have told me will happen. I have not done any electronic
modifications (without the switch to keep the fuel pump on). How much
boost will the stock fuel system be able to support? I don't want to get
the 425 dollar tap chip if I don't need it. Thanks.....steve
