Re: C-GT hit metal plate, lost cylinder(s)!? - UPDATE

I'm stuck,

I finally went out and took another look at my car. Now it won't
start. I checked the alternator, and it is not loose. The wires seem
okay. I checked the plug wires, and made sure the battery was hooked up
and all.

My friend (who still needs the A/C low pressure switch, BTW) suggested I
check the wires around the hall generator. I'm about to go do that
after sending this.

This is wierd. Even if the alternator was shot, or sitting in a
dumpster somewhere, the engine should still start, if it's turning over,
no? So, then, it must be something else? I do hear the little
humming/hissing type noise that continues briefly when you stop cranking
the engine. I don't hear anything before cranking, tho', with the key
on. I forget if it's supposed to make a noise then too or not.

This sucks. Any ideas? What's the step-by-step diagnosis for this
occurence?
