Well Steve Steve & Randall were right. It certainly appears that both o
rings have at least leaked at some stage judging by the deposits around the
area. I cant be sure until I can start the car again whicj is not going to
happen until I replace the crankcase breather hoses which practically fell
off. I went to push one out of the way & noticed that it felt rather soft.
When I gave it a squeeze, it felt like partially cured silicon & promptly
split. The other hose which connects one rocker cover to the other was in
the same condition. What is it with Audi & rubber? It seems to me that the
rubber compounds they use decay at an alarming rate.

Of course I had to have a look to see what else was going on back there and
found:
Steering damper stuffed
Both rack bellows torn
Rack leaking
Slight rocker cover leaks
Oil leak around distributors
Atf leaking from pipe union on top of box
Both air intake nozzles have been torn away from front mount, presumably by
the highly trained morons employed by the dealer
A really great spot to jam your arm, leaves you prostated over the intake
manifold

To top off the great day, my cheap disks that I got yesterday wont fit &
the Cool Carbon pads are nearly shot. Why doesnt the bloody thing start
leaking fuel, the increase in insurance premiums would be cheaper than
fixing this lot!
