A lot depends on your attitude - if you are genuinely interested in the car 
and show that you know what you are doing they usually dont object - unless 
they have got something to hide. 
OTOH, if the vendor is 6 foot + , over 200 pounds, has a #1 hair cut, more 
tattoos than the crew of the Ark Royal and owns a rottweiller, its normally a 
good idea not to try it.
