A new AudiDudi Owner

I just bought a 1990 Audi 100 and like it very much.  I do have several
questions and wonder if anyone can shed some light for me.
1.  How do I do a compression test, obviously I did not check it before I
bought it.
2.  How do I get to know my Audi better, eg. the engine/option info., etc.
3.  The cruise control is not working.  How to judge if it is fixable.
4.  The panel light is somewhat dim (amber glow).  Is that normal.
5.  The digital clock is not working.  Will that be worthwhile to fix it.

It's quite exciting to learn that there are so many Audi Gods and
Audiophiles.  Hopefully I can learn to be one soon.
