They pull out.  There is a litle tool, just a 90 degree bracket with a
slot for the injector and a slot for your prying lever.  Wouldn't fit
the 5th
cylinder of my coupe, part of the intake manifold was in the way. 
Screwdriver worked fine.  Be careful - you don't want to break the
fitting from the fuel
line to the injector.  Try to push exactly in line with the fuel line so
it comes out smooth and easy.  New seals are .95 each.

The intake valve is closed on the compression cycle...
