V8 Exhaust Parts Needed

It appears I was wrong in my diagnosis of my V8's "kettle drum" noise. 
Today, my mechanic and I did a further assessment, and it appears that
the middle muffler may have internal baffle failure contributing to this
harmonic experience.  In any event, dealer costs are extremely
expensive, and I am looking for other sources for this muffler.  Any
ideas?

PS  I think I'll be driving another '98 Passat soon at another dealer
that called me.  Perhaps I'll have a chance to drive this one a little
more than the one last Friday.  If so, I'll post a report.
