Re: Porsche Turbo S (no Audi content)
I keep hearing these same great stories about this car from everyone I
know who's driven one. If anyone on the list buys a new "regular"
(yeah, right) turbo or turbo S, I wanna try it and experience this lust
myself!!
I know the "old" Turbos with the trailing arm setup, were absolutely
terrorizing to drive on the street, especially around corners if you
don't know what you are doing. All of the Turbos that my Dad has had,
and others I've ridden in, always left me with a huge grin on my face.
As soon as the boost hits, you definitely feel it as your spinal cord is
collapsed hard into the Recaro seat...what a rush!!
cya!

<<This will be the first car that I will be buying when I can afford
it. I had a chance to drive the "regular" 1997 bi-turbo this summer
and I have to tell you that I didn't want to wash my hands for days
(just joking). I know the owner of the local Audi/Porsche dealer so
it was easy for me to get a test drive (it was his car). What amazed
me was not only the incredable power all the way from 2000 rpm but
the smoothness of the power application. If you remember the older
89 and down turbos it was like getting hit by a train when the boost
hit. The brakes on this car will make you put a racing harness in it
becouse they are so powerfull the regular seatbelts just might hurt
you if you step on them suddenly. Other than that all you see is the
speedometer going around almost as quickly as the tachometer.
Do not drive this car unless you can afford it.
It will make the rest of your life in an ordinary car (sorry Audi
lovers) mizerable unless you have a HIGHLY modified sport Quattro.
BTW did I mention that test drive prompted to install a turbo engine
in my Coupe!
Later and sweet dreams.
