Although I have not seen any new A6's on American roads yet- IT's not
supposed to be coming until November or something- I have read a few
remarks in different magazines about it, the most recent being in Car and
Driver. I wish they'd offer a 5sp manual in the U.S. and not try to make
the car all luxury and no sport. I read that they re-tuned the suspension
for the U.S., making it softer. All this with a more powerful engine than
in Europe? I also read that Audi promises a V8 in the A6. Could this be the
230hp 3.7L V8 found in the base A8? Basically, Car and Driver said that the
car is vastly improved over the previous A6 but the lack of power is still
evident. The 0-60 times stink, being somewhere in the upper 8 second, lower
9 second range. In my opinion, Audi is making a major mistake by not
offering it with a manual. "Well, there's the Tiptronic, blah blah blah."
No. Before I even consider a new A6, it will have to have a true 5sp
manual. And I sure hope they introduce a version of the S4 here(not
necessarily the biturbo) that would compete with the M3 Sedan.
