RE: awful smell from rear brakes
These guys ROYALLY F'ed something up, and the caliper is clamping hard
on the brake disc at all times.
I would immediately stop driving it, call the shop who did the work,
and insist that they pick the car up with a flatbed and make it right.
Do not drive like that, for fear of causing further damage to the
vehicle, or possibly boiling the brake fluid from the excess heat, and
having reduced brake performance.
Now how important was it to graduate after all???

Subject: awful smell from rear brakes
Hello. I have a 93 100S and I had just gotten the rear brake rotors
and
brake pads replaced at a local service center. Should've done it
myself,
but school work is piling up and I need to graduate!!!!
Anyways. As I was driving back home I smelled a very strong and
pungent
odor kind of like burning rubber coming from the new pads/rotor area.
The
driver's side rotor was glowing bright red. . .actually was a cool
sight.
