TT/TTS are coming!

Hi all,

For those of you who have not read this month's Autocar magazine (yes, a
substantial piece of my monthly income goes straight to the newsagents'),
the TT and TTS are coming in '98. Very little will be changed in relation
to the concept cars, and they will be available with quattro (actually,
syncro in drag). The TT will be the first to appear in early '98, and the
TTS will follow suit in the Autumn. I'm glad they decided to keep the
distinctive styling. I like the MB SLK, but I _loved_ the prototype. It's a
shame they watered it down for the final version.

PS Test-drove two very different cars today: one is the VW Polo 1.6- lots
o' power in a very small and light car make this a lot of fun. It feels
reassuringly solid and safe, and handles like a much larger car. The other
one was the Volvo V70 2.5 20V- wow! This car really flies! Shame about the
crappy Continental tyres, or this would've been a great racer! I managed to
confuse the traction control and get the front tyres smoking, and it had an
annoying air leak in the driver's door window, but otherwise it was
impeccable. Loved the heated leather seats, fully automatic a/c with
separate controls for left and righthand side of the car, the solid feel
and the 5-cylinder engine noise. This is as far removed from the old 245s
as you can get!
