RE: 4 every rotor there is a time, Turn, Turn, Turn...
Thanks much for all the advice re: rotors and pads....
Advice on the G60s has never been an option because I've got too large an
investment in SNOW wheels and tires that I'm not willing to give up in the
snowy Northeast...won't fit over calipers.
On Sunday I fitted the new Paul Weston Carbon Kevlars without turning the
rotors because I was satsfied that they were an exact match and dispensed
with having the edges turned off. I then took the grey ghost out for an
evening break in...several medium speed stops and then a few high speed
stops and allowed them to cool...they work great...HOWEVER.....
I've got some new cross drilled rotors coming in from KVR in Ottawa...(love
that Julie 1-800-636-0854) that I'll be bringing out to Elkhart Lake along
with four new tires (remember this is a 90...who needs luggage anyway?).
I've been running the slotted rotors but preparation time got away from me
so I decided to try the cross drilled and see how I like 'em.
The thinking is that I will not have to use the new rotors and that they
can become a permanent track set starting next Spring. Also I plan on
replacing the currently installed C/Ks with a lower grade street pad when I
get back or maybe sooner.
Tip for the day: when replacing C/K pads yourself...plan on scrubbing your
hands and arms raw for about three days until you begin to see
skin again... :-)
Thanks Again,
Paul Royal
