'91 200Q: various sensors and switches
Well, I finally purchased the Bentley books for
my '91 200Q last week, and have been spending some
time curled up with them (!). Some answers, even
more questions ...
1. Turbo coolant pump/rad. fan after-run: Bentley
says, turn on engine, let it idle until fan turns on,
and then shut it off. Coolant pump and fan should start
after about 5 minutes.
Well .. they don't. Shorting the wires from the switch
does indeed cause them to turn on. Is the switch bad
or was it just not hot enough? Seems to me that they're
depending on the coolant temperature to rise when the engine's
shut off -- which I find odd. Shouldn't the darn thing start
running immediately after shut-down?
2. The oil pressure warning light has been coming on intermittently
(more frequently recently) for a several months -- gauge reads normal
values, oil level is fine. Bentley is somewhat sketchy on this:
is the low-pressure switch in the same module as the sender for
the dash gauge? Does the warning light turn on both for high
and low pressures?
3. The windshield washer warning light has been turning on
spuriously as well. (The animation's cool, but gets old
very soon!). Anyone BTDT?
TIA!
