The four speed auto trans on a quattro of that vintage is the 01F
transmission, probably CEZ code letters for USA, CBE for rest of the world
on the 2.8 V6.  This puppy is chock full of electronics and as far as I
know, is no relation to any other VW/Audi box, especially those for
transverse applications.  The transmission is a ZF unit and the info label
at the bottom of the transmission should have all the info for the unit.
