In my '87 5kt, I mounted amps to the floor and raised the level using
plywood and carpeting to make the false floor height level with the heat
sinks- the only way I could think of to get the proper amount of cool air
across the amps. Under the seat, it overheats. But once I moved up to a
tri-amp setup, there were too many amplifiers to fit anywhere but the
trunk floor! I also used the spare tire well as my enclosure for dual 12"
subwoofers. Braced and insulated, it is phenomenal sounding (Leonard Cohen
at above conversational tones- at 110MPH with open sunroof!) but the thing
is, it still resonates outside when cranked up. This may be an important
consideration for you... if silence (outside the car) is golden.
