5KTQ Radiator sourced...nice
I had a nice experience with VW Parts getting a used radiator for my
5KCSTQ. My upper inlet was broken on the old one, and it had obviously
suffered the slings and arrows over the years and was generally dinged
and pitted. Don't ask me why (I'm cheap right now) but I decided to try
one of VW Parts' used radiators when the guy on the phone said he had
a nice one sitting on the rack.
He wasn't kidding! This radiator is pristine! It is very clean, the paint is
good, end tanks and fittings are in fine shape, and the core itself is
flawless -- not a single crenelation is even slightly tweaked! I ran some
water through it and it came out crystal clear. Pressure-tested by them
and well packaged for shipment, also. Not bad for $95. They also have
new ones in the $190-200 range.
I got this radiator after receiving price quotes ranging from $135 (used,
local junk yard, doesn't specialize in anything) to $650 (delusional, hoping
to retire on my misfortune).
Best Wishes,
Alex
