I'm not sure about the $50/tire range, but both the BFG Comp
T/A HR4 and the Dunlop D60A2 are very good bargains and good
all-around, all-season tires.  I think they're closer to the $60-$70
range, but you get quite a bit more tire for that incremental
money in that range.
