My tool collection started when I did some rally wrenching as a 19-year-old. 

I built up quite a set, aided by the purchase of a lot of stolen equipment 
(post-recovery, from the insurance company's loss adjusters).  In the 1960s, it 
was _all_ Imperial or A/F - our name for SAE.
 
I carefully cleaned and packed _all_ my non-metric tools about three years ago.
