Re: Thinking about buying a 91 200 Quattro Turbo (long)
Paul is right on the money about his comments on the 91 200 20V Quattro. I've
owned one since May of this year, and I have a permanent grin on my face
every time I drive it. This car is genetically and S-4/S-6 albeit without the
overboost, and the older body style but the stealth factor is a big plus and
probably the best buy in the used sports sedan market. I think of this car as
as the car Porsche would build if they wanted to get into the 4 door sports
sedan market. There is no other car manufacturer that builds a 4 door sports
sedan with the following specs:
Full time 4 Wheel Drive
4 Door Sedan with 5 Speed manual
Turbo/Intercooled
Anti-Lock Brakes
This Audi has Mercedes-like build quality, the best paint and galvanized
(rust-proofing) in the business and the exclusivity of a short production run
for the US. I believe less than 1200 1991 20 Valve Quattro wagons and sedans
were imported.
Good luck on your purchase. This is the second 200 Quattro I've owned and
I've logged over 80,000 miles so far. There is no doubt in my mind this will
be a collectible car and is one of the best examples of Audi automotive
engineering at its best. Killing the S-6 was a stupid, stupid marketing move
but makes the 20 Valve Turbos even more scarce and valuable. Just my .02
Cents.
