RE: Stupid questions from an Audi Newbie
Actually Scottsdale is (or was) Alan's dealer as well (I forgot about
that). My dad was manager at Alan Johnson's in San Diego, in the mid
'80's and remembers seeing a couple of 4kq Tresers with the 10vt. You
could special order all kinds of things from Treser, so this kind of
thing was not all that unusual. I actually heard of one of these 4ktq
Tresers somewhere in the Midwest.
I don't know if you ever saw Alan's 5ktq Treser (a lister had it for
sale earlier this year), but that had some extra goodies that Alan had
ordered, and the car even had a plaque on the driver's sun visor that
said "Specially built for Alan Johnson." I think with the 5ktq
Treser's, you either loved them, or absolutely hated them.
Those Michelin tires for those weird sized rims are pretty expensive,
even from Tire Rack.
cya!

<<The other US importer for Treser cars was Scottsdale Porsche-Audi,
located about 10 miles from my house ... to my knowledge, they didn't
import or sell any 4kqs with a 10vt motor in them. In fact, according
to them, only 30 or us Treser 4kqs were imported to the US ... there's a
red one in town that occasionally comes up for sale and I actually
considered buying it but the seller wanted too much for it (or more
accurately, more than I had available at the time!). Unlike the Treser
5ktq body kit, which IMHO looks like crap, the 4kq actually looks pretty
good ... if only the Treser wheels weren't made for TRX tires!>>
