No Leaks V8!
My 90V8 is officially dry! No leaks of any type. No more smoking or
smell at stop signs. Replaced two top end breather lines. Replaced
steering rack. Removed 1.5 Qt of ATF that was overadded as a result of
believing the dipstick when the tranny was not really hot enough.
The overfilled tranny was result of the cruise control recall (I have
not ever had occasion to take cars to dealers except for recalls). I
asked the service tech to check the ATF since there is no stick
delivered with the car. He checked the level (I measured his stick for
later duplication) and determined it to be quite low and added the first
Qt ($4!). Later I determined with my new dip stick and not warm enough
tranny that I could go another 1/2 quart. Still later, after a 30 mile
highway drive, I checked the level and found it quite overfilled and now
leaking from near the cross over pipe.
