RE: 1990 V8Q Headlights

Headlight switch in the steering column? These are prone to fail, due to
too much voltage going thru them. Audi engineers must have some unusual
design criteria, since they use switches, wire gauge, and relays to
protect fuses. Either that, or Audi subcontracts their electrical
engineering to your choice of Marelli, Lucas, or SAAB. Fogs only work
with the low beams on, so if the low beam part of the headlight switch
is toast, no fogs, thru no fault of their own. YMMV.

Subject: 1990 V8Q Headlights

Greetings all!

I am new to the list, and am having a bit of a problem with my 1990 V8Q.

This is my 3rd quattro, my first two were an 85 4000SQ, and a 1988 90Q.
My
low beam headlights quit working along with the front and rear fogs.  I
know there must be a fusable link or relay, but does anyone know where
it
is?  It is not in the passenger footwell with the rest of them, so I am
stumped.

Thanks,

Douglas P. Glanz
