Fortunately, I have been spared from clutch jobs on FWD cars - mine
have all been RWD. Therefore, I am aware that my knowledge and
experience may have limited transferability.

Sounds like as much fun as changing the clutch on a 4x4 pickup when
you have to wrestle that damn transfer case in addition to the
tranny.
Anyhow, Mik's helpful comments are acknowledged and my previous
comments can be related to RWD cars....
