RE: Repco Pads
I started using Repco Metal Masters back when I was doing a lot of
mountain driving with a small truck heavily loaded with whitewater
rafting equipment. The OE pads on that poor Datsun 4x4 couldn't handle
the heat but the Repco MM's did. I have been using them since on every
thing I own. I also installed a lot of them in customers VW's,
Porsche's, Audi's, and BMW's when I was working full time as Technician
(sounds better than Mechanic, I think). I have never had a problem with
cold stops but in CA it is never really cold. They are not a racing pad
but they do handle aggressive driving pretty well. I prefer the Metal
Masters to the "organics" but have use both with success. I did have to
replace a set of "organics" once 2 days after installing them because
they would barley stop the car! I checked everything else first because
"The pads were new", I finally gave up and put in a new set of MM's and
then the poor Dasher stopped again. This is the only time I have seen a
problem with "Repco" pads excluding the racers that thought they would
be "OK" for the track.
