I think you missed my point:  the '91 200q  _came_ with V-rated tires (good
to 149mph).  So why does my owner's manual warn against going over 130 mph
and attribute it to tire limitations?  The car is capable of much more
(149mph est in R&T's road test, and I've actually seen 135 at the end of
the straight at SIR--wish it were longer :)

In the case of the S4/S6, which also came with V (or even Z?) rated tires,
as someone pointed out, liability-shy AoA probably mandated the 130 mph
limit as matter of policy (there's a 130 mph limiter in my dad's '92 100s)
That being the case,why set it that high?  no one can legally drive that
speed in the US--why not set it at 100, or even 80, both well in excess of
any state's limit (not counting Montana).
