You have the question wrong.  Basically, is $250
a fair price for a timing belt change?  A bit high,
but yes.  It depends on what broke, and *why*.
(I don't pay for a machanic's mistakes, but old parts
do break, and "them's the breaks" :-))

Get real!  What's the ticking sound?  How can
