You forgot to add that sometimes it corrodes and sticks open,
moving your idle up to around 3000 RPM.

I took mine out 4 years ago when it did this to me. Haven't missed it
one bit. When I disengage clutch and gas pedal, idle drops to abou 1000,
pauses for a moment, then settles at 750. Works for me.

Downside? That extra 3.6 grams of nose weight balancing the car is gone.
