ICE damage

At last, this afternoon I started to remove the remains of the gross ICE
install that was run by the previous owner of the quattro. I took out the rear
seat and then spent half an hour trying to work out what was holding in the
sheet of MDF that held the speakers. Turned out to be the speakers themselves,
I had to unscrew them from the board before I could move it.
I knew when I bought the car that the steel shelf had been cut to allow the
speakers to be fitted but I wasn't quite prepared for what was revealed when I
pulled the board - the last time I saw holes like these the culprit was a
shell from a Centurion tank. l'm in two minds, should I tidy up the holes so
that they are symmetrical or should I bend the 'petals' back into place and
weld them up to return things to the original? Bear in mind how close the
petrol tank and battery are.
On the plus side, at the front all they did was to cut the door panels, not
the metal work and I've got a load of speakers and crossovers that should
realize 200GBP second-user.

BTW, if you think that your fuel pump makes a lot of noise, try driving
without the rear seat and parcel shelf.
