It was $80k new. As a matter of fact, several good Sports have changed hands
recently (a _beautiful_ dark red one was at the Donington event) for GBP40k -
less than $55k. In fact, we had three Sports on the stand at Donington and one
in the paddock.
And the 'all aluminium' engine wasn't. Check the aluninium engine production
and homologation dates, and the Sport production and homologation dates. They
didn't even overlap.
It's one of the least accurate portrayals of the Sport I've ever seen. Anyone
with a copy of the parts fiche can see what nonsense it is. The book is
currently being 'remaindered' (sold at 1/3rd of sticker price) by my local
branch of WH Smith in Kettering.
(And the Sport is, IMO, an _unpleasant_ vehicle to drive on pavement.)
