=Well, if it has the UFO brakes, you won't want to know how much
=those rotors are gonna cost within 12 months....

=I looked at almost the same car (no Alpine CD) here a while ago.
=They are nice, but they do require some specialized care. One of
=the other list members around here (Chris Miller) bought it.
=I believe the asking price about a year ago was $17.9K (???)

I bought the car Andrew references above. Same as yours, without the CD
player, at 68500 mile when purchased. It's very difficult to say what a fair
price is; with Audis, the records of maintenance are essential, as is general
appearance and condition. As Andrew said, they were asking more; I paid
$15,600 (which was high) and had them do lots of preventative and repair
stuff, including new UFO rotors up front...

(If you have UFOs, call one of the venders off the archive list and get
prices for new rotors: try Carlson Audi (Linda), or try German Parts and
Restoration, and mention the list...)

I looked at quite a few cars (including 3 other '91 200q sedans) before
buying this one; and once I bought, I stopped shopping!! The others were
priced lower, but looked like they'd had rougher lives. The one I bought was
mint; I always find it harder to repair a car than to maintain one. In
Denver, it's the start of quattro season, so the cars cost more and harder to
find.

Remember that the car was like $43k new in '91: over the last 6-7 years it
lost $27,000 in value. So, the prices will vary a bit, and expect it to
continue to depreciate. But they are great cars; I don't regret my purchase
at all. If you buy from them, try to get an Audi warrantee, and make sure
you get copies of records of past repairs. I've put up some basic info and
photos of my car on my web page (
http://members.aol.com/c1j1miller/index.html ), and most repairs (non engine
related) have been addressed in the past in the quattro list archives.

Good luck and let me know if you end up purchasing the car.
