Re: Power, WGs, boost control.
Steve,
Glad to see you are having fun under the hhod.
One of the best ways to modify any of these cars
is to create a flow control diverter on the
bottom side of the wastegate. On 5K cars that
means you can leave the WGFV alone. If you put
a restricter in line with the bottom control line, and
tee off after than, run the output through a S. Knob,
then return the output to the input to the turbo, you
have a handy dandy boost controller that eliminate
all wastegate cracking without changing springs.
If you size things right (wrong?) you get a nice overboost
in the lower gears to. It's a dynamic thing. It take a
few heartbeats to fill the bootom chamber with the restricter
inline. This gives you the same effect you want out of
those fancey digital equalizer type boost controllers HKS
sells. You can also skip the return to turbo line and put
in a check vavle.
I have just layed out Schrappnel Knob Rev II for 5K/200 cars.
