Paul,

I went through similar situation and did a complete driveshaft rebuild
only to find that the real culpriut was the handbrake cable attachment
assembly that was rubbing on the driveshaft. For me, the noise only
occured in wet weather under light acceleartion.

I'm such a paranoid that I didn't give it enough time to burnish the
driveshaft where it was dragging. I discovered it after the rebuild and
re-assembly. (Same noise)

I surmise that the mis allignment was the result of an encounter with a
very large rock which I didn't miss and which really whalloped the body
pan under the passenger side. I've yet to take it into a frame shop to
see if I did tweek the unibody.
