I parked the ur-quattro in the Audi car park at the Donington event last
weekend, and left a small 'screed' in the rear windows for anyone passing by to
read what a quattro is all about. One of the things it mentioned was 147800
miles on the original engine.
Just before I left, I had a short technical discussion with a fellow MB owner,
which led to us idling the engine with the bonnet open and fiddling with a
couple of the bits and pieces. We were fairly busy - but someone came up to me
from the rear of the car and queried the odometer mileage. I said it was
correct - he cocked an ear at the engine and asked if I was sure that no one
had wound the odometer _FORWARDS_!
He seemed very impressed that a 150k mile engine could just hum like that.
300k - here we come!
