Jeez, I thought that dropping a Northstar into the 5K was the wildest
idea that showed on this list, but this is a real knock-out :-)
Seriously, it's impossible. Mercedes is a RWD car, the gearbox has no
final drive :-) I don't know if it has separate gearbox and clutch
housings. You would have to disconnect them and insert the Audi final
drive unit in between :-) But it is impossible since the Mercedes
gearbox has the output shaft facing rearwards :-)

You could put an Audi 5 speed gearbox - it has "down and to the right"
reverse. But usually it is cheaper to just sell your car and buy another
one than do such complicated swaps.

Change the fluid to synthetic and pray to the Audi Gods. Is it 3 or 4
speed automatic? If it's a 4 speed, you are _guaranteed_ to have
problems.
