Well, heck, I'm 22. TQ Audis and (perish the thought) Dorf Mustangs were
our learning curve. But the occasional rubber melter does come along.
Funny true story from earlier today: Scary rockabilly band the Cramps
comes to Phoenix, 120 miles up I-10. The crew puts on an appropriate
amount of hair grease and leather jackets and such. Then, into the '65
Barracuda. With a hi-po 340 and 3.73 posi, we lay quite a patch with the
stock 13 inch rims. After dinner, though, it's into the 5kcst, making the
run in 71 minutes (wow!) with 22 mpg.
As any Audi driver would attest, power is not everything. And I don't
think anything I can afford vacuums up highway like a type 44. To run the
'Cuda at that speed would have grayed my hair and emptied my wallet.
How 2226cc got the last laugh:)
