Mini Audi adventure

Went to Atlanta Saturday for an overnight stay with some friends at Lake
Lanier. On the way back yesterday when I got on the interstate, I merged
in behind a black S4 or S6 with South Carolina plates that was traveling at
warp speed. I fell in behind and had some fun trailing him for about half
an hour. He was pushing it pretty good.

At one point when we cleared some traffic, we opened it up. I am
assuming he planted it in 5th, as did I, I'm sure he didn't downshift.
Started at about 70-80 mph, foot to the floor and I backed off at about 120
(those darn S-rated tires), at which point he cooled it to. The fun part
was, I stayed right with him the whole way. He didn't pull away from me
a bit.

Don't know who it was or what his ride was/has exactly. Mine is stock
plus the IA Stage 3. This mod fools the pressure transducer so the digital
boost gauge isn't accurate, but it is relative. It was a solid 1.8 for the
majority of the run to 120. I felt a couple of little burps, kind of like a quick
misfire, but the cool temps really help to mask whatever problem it is that
I had during the summer. I know there's still something needing attention,
but it's harder to troubleshoot now.

Anyway, this really made me want to firm up my car to S4 standards as
it's just not as nailed down as I would like at 100+. I know new tires will
help; these S-rated, no-name, M+S, one-size too small, cheapos don't
even hold up to a mild cross-wind. A set of Pirelli P6000 Sport Veloce,
some Boge Turbo Gas and some Carbon/Kevlar brake pads should help
nicely. But I already knew that....

This missive is offered as a little relief from the "charged" atmosphere of
recent threads. Even though it's get's personal a little too easily, a lot of
interesting info is flowing which is a nice change from the recent dry
spell.

How was the DC get-together? Was hating that I was missing it...
