     Just for another datapoint in the Graf pump discussion, back in the 
     summer I did the timeing belt/water pump job on my '87 5kSQ with a 
     Graf pump.  As soon as I started it up I noticed the whirring, turkey 
     sound at low RPM. I checked and rechecked the belt tensions but 
     couldn't get it to go away and couldn't really tell what was causing 
     the noise.  A few weeks ago I picked up parts to do the same job on my 
     Dads '87 5kSQ and noticed that the water pump was not a Graf but a GMB 
     water pump, made in Japan. I asked the guy about it and all he said 
     was "these are better".  Since then the discussion on the list started 
     about the Graf pumps and I finally installed this new pump this 
     weekend. The result: No Noise. So now I'm wondering just how bad this 
     Graf pump is? I can live with the noise as long as I'm confident its 
     not the sound of impending, sudden, catastrophic, cooling system 
     failure. Anyone BTDT?
