DC Get Together Wrapup

Hi All,
As a lowly VW owner I was not going to give a writeup on this get
together, but since no one else has written on it I'll step to the plate. I
was late getting down to DC on Saturday so I missed the beginning of the
meet at the Pentagon and the cruise to VW Sport's new place. I got into DC
and jumped in my Corrado (hoping to compare to an Ur-Quattro or two) and
headed down. On the beltway looking for the Van Dorn St exit a Yellow A4
(A4 ADAM plates) with two guys passed me (I slowed down to check out the
car). I figured they were at the meeting and I was right, as I asked around
when I got there.
It looked like a mix of A4s, a V8 and some other stuff, but most were
leaving by the time I got there and I was busy inside checking out the new
building. They had the Projectzwo ground effects kit up on the wall, which
is going to go on Adrian's 1.8TQ before their photo shoot with EC in a few
weeks.
Adrian offered me a ride in the 1.8TQ, I was one of many that day. While I
didn't have time to introduce myself to many, I did meet Johnathan Linkov.
Turned out he was in the car on the same test ride I was. With the 3 of us
in the car and the AC on, I was amazed. The car had more pull than my Jetta
VR6 with only me in the car. We pulled out of the parking lot doing a 4
wheel burnout sliding sideways. We broke the 125mph with comfort and ease
on the beltway, and we took the offramp at an easygoing 80mph (gotta love
quattro). I am now sold on the 1.8TQ. The chip alone adds a claimed 50hp
and it sure as heck felt like it.
They had the season wrapup of last year's BTCC campaign going on a VCR in
the shop, and presumably had pizza that was long gone when I got there.
They also had an extensive picture album from the Frankfurt Show.
Too bad I didn't get to meet more of you. I'm sure you can tell the list
what I missed. Later-G
