Re:5ktqw test drive questions
1) Sounds like the bomb is history.
2) Also probably correct, my clutch on my 5kcstq was replaced by the
previous owner <90k miles. I think you can get the MC and SC as a set
for <$200
3) Hmmm. Could be that the fuel filter needs to be changed, or the pump
isn't developing sufficient pressure, but with only 10.75v coming from the
charging system I'm betting that the pump isn't flowing enough fuel to
keep the injectors open under heavy loads.
4) The brake "chattering" may be due to the pressure pulses of the
hydraulic pump not being absorbed because the bomb is bad. BTDT.
6) Trip computer -- Could be voltage-related but it sounds like maybe the
switch is bad. I can scan in the diagnosis & fix procedures from the
Bentley and send them to you if you tell me the year of the car. The
rear-defog indicator does have a bulb, it should light up as a little green
triangle. However, on my car it is not very bright even with full voltage
so it may be too dim for you to see. Either that or the bulb in the switch is
bad, or perhaps the fuse is blown.
I'd get a new alternator on it and then retest the car, probably some of
the electrically-related problems will disappear.
Best Wishes,
Alex
