1 - Tie rod ends
2 - exhaust hangers tired/rusted (they are reinforced inside with metal
banding to hold the system snug - they may rust onthe inside before the
rubber tears on the outside)
On the steering:
- Warped front rotors (wheel shakes *more* when brakes are applied),
- Wheel bearings (more of a sharp noise - jack up the car - do the
wheels spin fairly freely, any lateral play?),
- Tire balance (when were they last balanced? Have you hit any
potholes?)
- Possible bent rim - the wheel may not appear bent (around the lip),
but lateral warpage will appear on an off-car high speed spin balance
