WRT car audio, actually an investment in auto audio can go farther than the
same money in a home system. First, many people spend a lot more time in
their cars than in their living room. Second, the acoustic environment is
pretty good, and it takes a bit less effort to get good quality sound.

Now there is a lot of ambient noise in a car, and you do have some speaker
placement trade offs, (not to mention having to pay attention to traffic)
so critical listening is problematic ;-)

But overall, if you wanted good tunes, and had $1500 to spend, you *could*
get better thump for your buck in your car.
